Rough River Dam State Park, Lakeside Wedding, Tyler + Rebecca

Tyler + Rebecca’s Rough River Dam State Park lakeside wedding in Kentucky couldn’t have taken place on a more gorgeous day in September! With their closest family and friends surrounding them, Rebecca got to marry the man of her dreams and Tyler was the luckiest man on earth!

Tyler and Rebecca met 5 years ago on farmers only. Tyler is a small town boy from Union County Kentucky and Rebecca is a sheep farmer in Ohio County. When these two shared the story of their proposal on our initial consult, I just knew I couldn’t wait to bear witness to the wedding of their dreams unfolding. Tyler proposed to Rebecca in Wisconsin on the great lakes in February! Now I am NOT one for the cold, but what an amazing romantic memory for these two!

Rebecca’s wedding day at Rough River Dam State Park started out with her sisters getting her ready for the day in a cabin right there on the property. Her mom and dad then arrived for a private first look that got the emotions flowing for the day. Rebecca then stepped away for some one on one time with her dog, Jeff, who by the way, is literally the most chill dog I’ve ever met! We then captured some amazing bridal portraits as Rebecca had some alone time to just take in the day.

When arriving to the ceremony location right on the lake at Rough River Damn State Park, guests began to be seated and I had a few moments alone with Tyler and his groomsmen to capture some portraits. These guys had me laughing the whole time! It was a great way to ease some nerves before Tyler saw his bride coming down the aisle.

Rebecca’s father walked her down the aisle and Tyler stood in awe awaiting his princess bride as she began walking towards him. As her father gave her away that day, I could feel all the emotions. As a mom to young girls, I cherish weddings from a new perspective now. I can only imagine that watching your child marry someone who you have prayed for their entire lives is emotional and rewarding.

After the ceremony we were able to get some alone time to capture those moments just right after the wedding of the couple alone. This is one of my favorite parts and I encourage my couples to allow for couple portraits after the ceremony so that we can capture those first moments of being officially married. We even grabbed some sunset photos on the lake!

Rough River Dam State Park catered the reception and served both fried chicken and ham as well as the BEST mac and cheese! After dinner we enjoyed some cake and then it was on to dancing the night away! I hope you enjoy scrolling through a glimpse of their wedding day. The day was absolutely gorgeous. Tyler and Rebecca, it was an honor being your photographer and I am beyond blessed that you trusted me to capture your special day. It’s so much more than photographs, its your love story!
